Epilation (hair removal below the skin) by laser was performed experimentally for about 20 years before it became commercially available in the mid 1990's.
Laser hair removal is probably the most effective long term hair removal solution. It is considered safe if performed properly. Useful for large areas such as legs. If regrowth does occur it usually comes back lighter in coler and finer in texture.
